I do not see why something of this nature could not be replicated, albeit without the same level of detail and space. You go in, you search around, you kill stuff, you loot everything valuable, and then you destroy the Oblivion gate by removing the Sigil stone. Remember the Oblivion gates from Oblivion? Each one was essentially unique. Another tower could have a mini-boss fight. Perhaps another tower could have a different sort of puzzle. You enter the tower and one has a series of physical puzzles that need solving. How about each tower is unique in some regard. Yet, so many of these quests could be easily replaced by something far more engaging. This is fine occasionally, but when basically all of your quests of this nature, it is incredibly boring. Far too many of the quests (i.e., all of them) were fetch, search, and/or kill quests. One of the biggest problems with the game, in my view, were the quests. I thought it had a lot in its favour and that there was a huge amount of potential. On the bright side, I got flying and I also accidently discovered that the Moonfire Faire event rewards a very cool polar bear mount so I dropped everything to get it.So, like many of you, I really enjoyed the beta version of this game. So…it looks like I need 3 hard mode trials, I got one done, have the 3rd one in my Duty list, and found how to open the second one so I have 2 left to run and then I can move on. These were also side quests instead of msq so that was a little confusing as well. I had the required trial in my Duty list and no idea whether I had done it or not, so I took a shot, queued up for it and voila! The next quest showed up.

I was going to say that in my defense, I couldn’t find anything that indicated whether or not I had completed a dungeon or trial. I think this officially makes 3 MMORPGS in which I have earned the title “Idiot.” No matter how “dumbed down” FF14 makes stuff for new players, it will never be dumb enough for me.
